What is platelet rich plasma?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is composed of platelets and plasma. Platelets
are cell types that circulate in our blood (plasma) and
play an important role in
forming blood clots. Recently it has been discovered
that Platelets also play a very important role in the
healing process. They contain large amounts of proteins,
called Growth Factors which assist the body in repairing
itself. Growth factors stimulate
other cells to regenerate new tissue.
While normal
concentration of platelet circulation in your blood is 200,000 per micro liter,
that platelet count in PRP can exceed 2 million platelets per micro liter.
How PRP is produced?
Platelet rich plasma is produced from a patient’s own blood. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge and the blood cells are removed, leaving the platelet rich plasma. The plasma mixture
is then mixed with thrombin to form a gel. . The platelet gel is placed on the gums that have been treated for periodontal disease.
Benefits of PRP
- Decreased intra-operative and post-operative bleeding.
- Decreased post-operative pain and swelling.
- Faster healing.
- Stabilization of connective tissue.
- Promotion of more rapid re-vascularization, (re-growth of blood vessels)
- Decreased in the potential for post-operative infection
- Delivery of growth factors specific for bone regeneration at the rot surface
aspect of the regeneration barrier.

What is Periodontal Disease | Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal diseases are bacterial infections of the gums and the bone that surrounds the teeth. They are caused mainly by the accumulation
of bacteria called plaque. If not treated right away, the teeth themselves
can be affected.
Single Tooth Replacement | Multiple Tooth Replacement
Dental implants are a better solution to the problem of missing
teeth. An artificial tooth root is placed into the jaw to hold a
replacement tooth or bridge in place as to provide patient comfort,
function and esthetics.
Intravenous (IV) Conscious Sedation
This is sedative drugs that we directly inject into the vein providing a very effective and safe patient management technique.
Root Coverage | Microsurgery | Interdental Enhancement | Pre-Prosthetic
To help our patient feel and look great, cosmetic periodontal surgery
can be done to cover exposed root surfaces and prevent gum recession.
Bone Regeneration | Sinus Augmentation | Ridge Augmentation
We can predictably grow bone and the attachment to your teeth
back after it is lost to periodontal disease.
Scaling & Root Planning | Antibiotic Therapy | Periodontal
Maintenance
Non - surgical periodontal treatments are available for patients
with mild to moderately severe forms of periodontal disease. Most
patients in the first two stages and some patients in the third
stage can be treated without surgery.
Growth factor Supplementation
The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a concentrated suspension of the growth factors found in platelets is involved in wound healing and as promoters of tissue regeneration.
